  • I Put the Lizzie in the Bee!

I'm so glad you stopped by! : ) Hanging out around here is one of the best ways to spend some time, so kick off your boots and sit a spell! You should probably go 'head and bookmark it, too, 'cause I know wild horses couldn't keep you away. I'm Beth, and I'm a storyteller. No, not the kind of storyteller (nicknamed Lizzie) that gets her mouth washed out when she's 9 years old for making up a WHOPPER of a tale about her little brother's "accident", but the kind that uses images! Remember before you could read, your mama would show you picture books and you could tell the whole story without knowing a single word? That's what I aim to do with my camera. Ten years, twenty years...100 years from now, when your hair is blue and you can't even remember what your name is, your great-grandbabies will be able to gaze at portraits of your life and know your story. That's where I come in. I reckon that since I can't draw, or paint, or sing, or dance, God knew that I would need a way to artistically express the beauty and FUN I see around me...and he gave me the gift of perception with a camera lens. I hope you'll give me a holler so that we can shoot the breeze ; ) about the gorgeous portraits you've been dreaming of. I've got an "easy" button - it's that "drop me a line" one right underneath here. In the meantime, you should peek around some. I already love you like beans & cornbread. xoxo

I can hardly believe the amount of entries I had for this giveaway ~ you all really love your mamas! : )  I’m so excited to be able to bless a family (or just a mom or grandma!) ~ so I decided to have random.org choose TWO names and have TWO winners! Happy Mother’s Day to ALL of you – I hope you enjoy every second of the time you spend with your families. : ) xo

{ Jessica } | Class of 2013 | Marcos de Niza High School | Tempe, AZ Senior Photographer

To say that Jessica is beautiful (aside from being obvious!) is the understatement of the year.  She is GORGEOUS ~ and her parents have SO much to be proud of!  Jess is graduating from Marcos de Niza High School in Tempe, AZ this year, and while this chapter in her life is closing, she has quite the plan for the future!  This National Honor Society senior (who says that her school choir has been one of the BEST parts of her high school experience!) has plans to attend ASU with a major in marketing (and a focus on advertising).  Oh, and in case she gets bored, she plans to double major in graphic design and Spanish. : )  She’s also been regularly involved in Fellowship of Christian Athletes (look at how buff she is from working out!).  The best part of Jessica to *me*, though, is her warm, genuinely sweet nature.  She is so well-spoken and so gentle at the same time.  We laughed a ton during our time together and I’m pretty sure she thinks I’m half crazy (and I am!) but she is the kind of girl that I look at and think, “I hope my daughter grows up to one day be like her.”  Really!  She loves God, she has a super cute relationship with her mom, she is ridiculously smart and driven, and she loves people.  I’m so blessed to have been able to meet her : ). Thank you for trusting me with these images, Jess ~ I hope you love them! I’m so excited for you. Jeremiah 29:11, girlfriend. XOXO

Sam + Max | Growing Up | Phoenix, AZ Horse Photographer

I met Sam when she was probably still in junior high – sweet as could be, and riding around at the barn in all of her free time.  Over the last 5 years, I’ve watched her grow into a young lady that I totally admire!  I made sure that she modeled for me this past summer as she entered her final year of high school @ Sandra Day O’Connor.    Not only is Sam an insanely talented equestrian, but she possesses the strength, courage, and confidence that are typical of girls in the equestrian world.  Her partner in crime, the handsome man in these images with her, is Max.  Sam isn’t the first girl that he has teamed up with in the sport of eventing, but she will be the last.  In a short while, sweet Max will be celebrating a life well-lived by retiring to a grassy pasture back east.  He’s worked hard to take care of several girls during his long life.  Watching Sam with him, though, it’s hard to believe that these two are even separate beings.  I’m sure that Max will miss Sam just as much as she misses him.  But sometimes, growing up is painful – and celebratory – all at the same time.  It’s bittersweet.  Sam is heading off to college this fall to study for a degree in pharmacology (sorry if I messed that up, Sam!) ; ).  She has dreams and goals and a strong family to help her reach for them.  But Max has lived his life, given his heart and mind and spirit, and these two have to go different directions.  I’m proud of Max *and* Sam, and the rewards that are coming their way for the hard work that each of them has done.  Thank  you for trusting me to capture your relationship together, Sam ~ you are an incredible young lady, and I know Max thinks so, too. xoxo

Jamie + Dan {Married} | Phoenix, AZ Wedding Photographer

I was so honored when Jamie + Dan trusted me with their surprise engagement news (we met in downtown PHX for a fun urban shoot, meant to be a surprise for their families!).  They had planned to have their wedding in Hawaii, but had a change of heart about 3 weeks ago…and planned a small wedding here for their close family and friends instead!  These two are so sweet – and have a whole houseful of sweet children to parent together now!  Thank you for including me, Jamie + Dan ~ I hope that you all are ridiculously happy together! : ) xoxo

Jamie Strattard - April 17, 2013 - 7:07 pm

I am so in love with these photos! Not quite as much as I am in love with this man, but close! Two decisions I am certain that are correct…marrying my best friend and love of my life, and selecting Lizzie Bee as our photographer!

Thank you for sharing your talents with us!

Dax + Jennifer are Married! | Scottsdale, AZ Wedding Photographer | Desert Botanical Gardens

I’m *not* a sappy girl ~ I usually cry a few times a year!  I must admit that at least one of those times will be at a sad animal movie ; ).  So when I found myself tearing up at Dax & Jen’s wedding, I was sort of surprised ~ they had a wedding unlike any I have been to before!  Jennifer’s little boy, Mr. {J} was a huge part of their ceremony at the Desert Botanical Gardens (which is GORGEOUS, by the way!).  He walked his mama down the aisle, participated in a sand ceremony, and then said vows to his new stepfather!  The most beautiful thing in the world was listening to Dax say his vows to Jennifer and her little boy.  Dax is a hero, a man with a huge heart, and I was honored to be able to capture such sweet moments for this couple as they begin their new life as a family. The tender love that he and {J} have for one another was fun to capture with a camera!   And isn’t Jennifer gorgeous?! The only thing that can compete with her beauty is that fabulous sunset!  Thank you, Dax & Jennifer, for inviting me and trusting me with such a special evening : )  God bless all of you as you begin your new life together! xoxo
